How does magnetic therapy work? Is it increasing blood flow? Damaging the nervous system? All mental?
My relative has just started using it and I am an unbeliever. what is it really doing to their body.

- It doesn't work at all. They've done double-blind tests with actual magnets and ones that have been demagnetized and proven it's a placebo. I've added a link about it on a good website, not only does it start to explain why magnet therapy is a scam but it also shows some of the ways that alternative "medicine" scam artists fake studies to try to get your money.
- skeptics.com may be right, it depends on who is making the claim, what the claim is, how the magnets are being applied blah blah blah. Magnetic healing devices are not the same as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). TMS has many applications, here are just a few: Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a newly developed tool for assessing functionality of the central nervous system (CNS). After Baker et al. demonstrated its value in humans in 1985, single and paired-pulse TMS have proven useful in detecting clinical and subclinical abnormalities in a large array of neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders including Tourette's syndrome, obsessive compulsive disorder, depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorders and ADHD among others.[39-43] Regarding ADHD specifically, TMS seems to be an ideal method for studying the maturational process of the motor pathways since it clearly excites the corticomotoneuronal system presumed to be involved in this disorder.[10] http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/452988_4 You need to register for a membership to access the research information on medscape.com. I'm posting the links but they probably won't work. _____________________________ Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is the most common developmental disorder that is associated with environmental and genetic factors. Neurobiological evidence suggests that fronto-striatum-cerebellum circuit abnormalities, mainly in the right hemisphere, are responsible for most of the disturbed sensorimotor integration; dopamine seems to be the main neurochemical alteration underlying these morphological abnormalities. Different conventional treatments have been employed on ADHD; however, repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), a new and useful option for the clinical/research investigation of several neuropsychiatric disorders involving dopamine circuits, has yet to be considered as a therapeutic tool and possible drug-free option for ADHD. Here the authors explore the available evidence that makes this tool a rational therapeutic possibility for patients with ADHD, calling attention to safety issues, while highlighting the potentials of such an approach and the new hope it may bring for patients, parents, researchers and clinicians. The authors advocate carefully conducted clinical trials to investigate efficacy, safety, cost-effectiveness and clinical utility of rTMS for ADHD patients in comparison to both placebo and standard treatments. _________________________________ Magnet therapy: Extraordinary claims, but no proven benefits Jan 12, 2006 London, UK - Extraordinary claims are made for magnetic healing devices, with bracelets, insoles, and other items advertised as curing a vast array of ills, particularly pain. But all the published research is weighted heavily against any therapeutic effect. "Patients should be advised that magnet therapy has no proved benefit," says an editorial in the January 7, 2006 issue of the BMJ [ 1 ]. THIS IS NOT THE SAME AS TMS. http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/538470
- Magnetic therapy works through increase of blood circulation as well as improve of blood consistency and activity. The magnetic therapy is not enough, it must be the Pulse Electro Magnetic in order to get the best health results. The magnetic therapy is good only for a very short time. If use too long, it starts to create damages. The Pulse Electro Magnetic therapy (B3K USA) will create the proper balance of all biological functions and help the body restore good and steady health - good for all systems including skin, nervous system, mental etc.
