1. It doesn't work in terms of any physical science. I believe there are double-blind experiments that prove that statement. However, it does work in your mind according to the 'placebo effect'. Basically, it gives you confidence, which makes you perform better. You could just as easily have somebody say a 'magical spell' for you, and that would work just as well, provided you believed in that spell.
